When employees walk into a newly relocated office, they see a finished workspace that looks organized, functional, and ready for business. What they do not see is the amount of planning, coordination, and project management it takes to make that transition happen seamlessly.
Our trusted business moving company recently completed a large-scale commercial relocation in Raleigh, NC. The project spanned two floors and included approximately 300 workstations, 60 hardwall offices, full packing and unpacking services, IT deployment, furniture installation, and decommissioning of the former space. It was the kind of move that required a business moving company that could plan, manage, and execute every stage with precision.
The Strategy Behind a Seamless Office Move
A successful office move starts long before the first box is packed. Careful planning, thoughtful design, and detailed coordination are what transform a complex relocation into a smooth transition.
For this Raleigh project, our Office Solutions team partnered with the client from the earliest stages of planning to develop a comprehensive office design plan. Through interior design and space planning, we created a workspace that supported daily operations, improved collaboration, accommodated technology requirements, and allowed room for future growth.
With 300 workstations and 60 hardwall offices spread across two floors, this project required much more than a basic floor plan. Our team developed detailed space plans, product typicals, as-built drawings, and 3D visual renderings that allowed the client to visualize how the new office would function before the move took place.
That early design process also allowed us to guide furniture selection and asset integration with intention. From ergonomic sit-stand desks and modular workstations to lounge seating and other furnishings, every choice was made to support the way employees would use the space day to day. By blending new and existing assets into one cohesive layout, we helped create a well-planned workspace that was both functional and thoughtfully designed.
Managing the Details That Keep a Large Move Moving
Once the workspace floor plan reached final approval, our commercial moving and project management teams focused on the details that keep a large relocation running smoothly. For a move of this size, every step had to be sequenced carefully, from building access and staging to delivery timing and installation logistics.
Our business moving company managed the behind-the-scenes coordination needed to keep the project organized and on schedule. Packing and unpacking services helped streamline the transition, ensuring office contents were labeled, transported, and placed where they needed to go. On a project of this size, even small delays can have a ripple effect—pushing back timelines, extending downtime, and delaying employees from getting back to business as usual. By keeping every phase of the move structured and efficient, we helped the client transition into their new space with less disruption and greater confidence.
Installation, IT Reconnects, and Final Setup
Once the new office furniture was installed, our installation crews got to work bringing the space to life.
Today’s office moves require extensive IT coordination. We installed approximately 300 workstations, set up 60 hardwall offices, mounted large-screen televisions throughout the space, distributed new IT equipment, and completed computer reconnects for hundreds of employee workstations.
We also mounted monitors on monitor arms at every desk to prepare the space for occupancy. Every detail mattered, because a successful office move is not just about getting employees into a new building. It is about making sure they can sit down and get back to work right away.
Clearing the Old Space and Supporting the Community
At the same time, our team managed the decommissioning of the previous space. Existing furniture, equipment, and project debris were removed, and we helped our client transition out of the space according to lease and contract requirements.
As part of that process, we also coordinated the donation of 12 truckloads of furniture to Wake County Schools. This effort gave the furniture a second life while helping local classrooms receive desks, tables, and other furnishings that can continue serving the community for years to come. Commercial relocations often create opportunities to responsibly manage surplus assets, and thoughtful planning allows businesses to reduce waste while making a positive local impact.
